Ghost Dance is an English group formed in 1985 and originally consisting of Gary Marx (ex Sisters Of Mercy), Anne-Marie Hurst (ex Skeletal Family), Paul Etchells and Steve Smith.
Group which released a first Single “River of no return” a year later in 1986, a title which would have a good run in the independent Charts. Shortly followed by “Heart full of soul” and “The grip of love”, two new titles which would also be released in 1986 and would confirm the status of the revelation group of the moment.
Success confirmed and especially amplified the following year with the release in 1987 of the Single “A word to the wise”, a Single which will be the first title of the group to be classified in the so-called official Charts.
Release of a compilation album called “Gathering dust” in 1988, an album which will also be popular with the public.
It was a year later in 1989 that the group reached a semblance of consecration with the release of the title “Down to the wire”. Single which will remain as the highest ranked title in their entire discography and which will be found on their first official album “Stop the world”, album which will also be released the same year.
A final major Single “Celebrate” will also be released the same year but it will indeed be the last of the group to appear in the Charts.
