Well kept secret...

Juice Newton, whose real name is Judy Newton, is an American singer-songwriter who really started her artistic career in a group called Juice Newton & Silver Spur, a group with which she produced three relatively successful albums between 1975 and 1977.

It was from 1978 that she decided to take her destiny into her own hands and start a solo career with a first title "It's a heartache", in truth a revisited version of Bonnie Tyler's title released a few months earlier. A cover that will bring her luck since she won here her first solo success on the Singles side.

Title taken from her first album "Well kept secret" which was also released the same year but unfortunately went somewhat unnoticed...

The following album "Take heart" will not do better than its predecessor on the Charts side in 1979 but will do much better on the Singles side on the other hand with no less than 5 extracted titles which will be classified, just that ! Starting with "Lay backin the arms of someone", "Anyway that you want me" and "Until tonight" the same year. As well as "Sunshine" and "You fill my life" a year later in 1980.

But it is especially the year 1981 that will see her take off in a spectacular way with the release of the album "Juice". Album that will make a real planetary hit and literally explode the notoriety of the young singer internationally. In particular thanks to two flagship titles, "Angel of the morning" and "Queen of hearts". And to a lesser extent "The sweetest thing (I've ever known)" which will complete the list.

New successful album in 1982 with "Quiet lies" even if the latter will not be able to match its predecessor as the bar has been set high. Album carried at arm's length by the enormous Single "Love's been a little bit hard on me" as well as by "Break it to me gently", Single which will bring her its first Grammy Award in the Country category.

A more rock orientation from the year 1983 will not really succeed for her and the album "Dirty looks" which comes out that year will not remain as her best opus. Only the Single "Tell her no" will painfully manage to pull out of the game.

A deceleration in terms of success which amplified in 1984 with the release of the album "Can't wait all night", an album which saw her demote once again in the Charts.

The singer will continue the adventure in the years that will follow but the success will now be limited exclusively to the Country Charts

Tracks :

1975...for the moment the young Juice plays it in grouped mode. Nice beginnings but which will unfortunately go somewhat unnoticed...

1976...this time the public will take a minimum interest in the group and offer them their first classified title. Certainly we are not talking about the top of the Charts but it is always that as they say...

1977...third and last year spent with the group. An experience that will have at least allowed her to do her classes and above all to show what she is capable of...

1978...taking back Bonnie Tyler's huge title dating from the previous year is a daring and above all risky gamble. And all in all, she won't be doing so badly...

1979...here she is now solo. She will therefore have to prove that she can exist alone and above all quickly produce a first solo title that marks the spirits...

1979...decidedly, covers were her favorite playground at the end of the 70s. Here she revisits the Smokie title dating from 1977 and is doing quite well once again...

1979...she's doing pretty well so far but the success remains limited exclusively to the Country Charts. For planetary recognition, it will therefore be necessary to pass an additional level and not the least...

1979...we should not expect any major improvement during this year 1979. Anyway, what she offers is not devoid of interest, that's clear...

1980... she puts the cover back on the cover and this time attacks the title of Jonathan Edwards dating from 1971. It would still be necessary that at some point she offers us something new and only something new...

1980...for the big takeoff, it won't be for this year 1980 either. But it could be that the end of the tunnel is not very very far...

1981...then comes THIS title ! We hoped to see her do something new and it's a cover, yet another, which will paradoxically bring her her first planetary top hit. Her revisited version of the title of Evie Sands dating from 1967 will propel her in a sensational way to the front of the international musical scene and prove in a brilliant way that we will have to count on her in the years to come !

1981...a huge year 1981 which saw her literally walking on water. A dazzling rise in power which now sees her chaining top hits with disconcerting ease. MAS-TER-FUL !

1981...three titles released that year and three titles with resounding success. In just one year, the singer has gone from rising star status to planetary star. Who would've believed that...?

1982...the year 1982 starts again almost on the same bases as the year 1981 and consolidates the statute of phenomenon of the moment of the singer. After the hardest will be to last as they say...

1982...she can't help but cover other people's titles, it's a real mania for her. It must be said that it was particularly successful for her the previous year and that it will work again with this revisited version of Brenda Lee's title dating from 1962. Like what it was worth trying again !

1982...when you have reached the top of the mountain, there is bound to be a moment when you have to come down. For the beginning of the descent, it is from this title...

1983... suddenly she says to herself that by again taking up a title from the others she will be able to reduce the speed of the descent. Her revisited version of the Zombies title dating from 1965 is nice but won't be able to break the house this time...

1983... the speed of the descent will on the contrary increase and the fall in the Charts will be dizzying to say the least. We would have liked to see her stay at the top longer but fate will have decided otherwise...

1983...the year 1983 literally ends in a freewheeling state and there is cause for real concern for the rest of the events. Getting back in hand or leaving the road definitively ? The future will tell us...

1984... the singer asked herself the right questions because she manages to stop the fall at the beginning of 1984. Let's hope it lasts as they say...

1984...decidedly, luxury covers no longer bring her luck. Her revisited version of Paul Davis' 1974 title does not lack charm but will not interest many people on the general public side at first sight...

1984... this title will know a much more favorable fate, that's for the good news. For the bad, it is that this title will be the last major of the singer…

1984 ... the adventure will continue, of course, but she will only appear in the Country Charts from now on. No more planetary hits, back home as they say...

1985...on the other hand, on the Charts Country side, it's guaranteed success. A year 1985 which will see her reach the first places on 2 consecutive titles, a performance which it is good to salute all the same...

1985 ... almost every year its luxury cover. For the year 1985 it will be the title of Roy Hamilton dating from 1954 which she brings up to date and which is far from deserving, it is clear...

1986...come on, a little novelty does not harm quite the contrary. It won't bring her any more than the revisited versions, but it at least allows you to vary the pleasures...

1986...here she arrived in shock but above all charming duo mode. All on a revisited version of the title of another duo, namely Gloria Loring and Carl Anderson, a title dating from the previous year. Good job since the title will end up at the top of the Charts...Country of course !

1986 ... a big year than this year 1986 with a production of titles for the less bloated. Unfortunately, this may well be the last year of this kind...

1986...four titles produced and 4 titles ranked, that's what we call a full success. As always a success limited to a very targeted audience but that was enough to say that the adventure is well worth pursuing !

1987 ... the production of titles will be divided by 2 during this year 1987. On the Charts side, she will succeed in maintaining its level but not sure that the sequel will be as favorable to it ...

1987...the last title to experience a level of success worthy of the name. We're not going to lie to each other, the best years are now behind her and the rest promises to be complicated to say the least...

1989... nothing in 1988 and return to this year 1989 in a form that we will qualify as relative. Not enough in any case to allow her to stay in contact with the head of the race...

1998... she will completely disappear from the radar for almost 9 years and here she is back at the end of the 90s. So, a winning comeback or a blow in the water ? On this point, it would rather be the second proposal that will prevail...

1999...a decade which will have seen her return furtively but which will see her leave as quickly as she arrived. Times are getting harder and harder for the singer, that's clear...

2010...she will disappear again for nearly 10 years and try to come back again in this new decade of 2010. Once again this return will not change anything unfortunately...
