Flash And The Pan is an Australian group formed in 1976 in Sydney by Harry Vanda and George Young, both former Easybeats members.
Their first notable success was the release of their first single "Hey, St. Peter", a single that came out the year the group was formed. And it was only two years later in 1978 that the next single "Down among the dead men" was released. Single which will also perform well in the Charts. Year 1978 which sees the release of their first album which bears the name of the group. The album is also a success but will not produce any other hits.
The year 1980 saw the release of their new album "Lights in the night", album which unfortunately did not produce any hits. It was therefore not until the release of the album "Headlines" in 1982 to see them return to success, notably thanks to the release of the enormous single "Waiting for a train". Single which will be a worldwide hit and will undeniably remain as one of the most significant titles of the decade.
New album "Early morning wake up" in 1984, album which will not know the success of the previous one but which will still produce a small hit with the single "Midnight man". 3 years air hole and back in 1987 with the album "Nights in France". Album which will produce their last hit with the title "Ayla".
Anything that comes out later will have very limited success.
To discover or rediscover.

Clips :
1976 ... a first track where the style of the group, so particular, is already omnipresent. A musical originality which allows them to obtain their first classified title. HU-GE !
1978 ... the start was smashing, what follows just behind will be a little less. Always difficult to bounce back when the first title released is a real hit without you really being prepared ...
1979 ... a much more inspired end of the decade. The group delivers here an original, dark and particularly offbeat track but which gives them an undeniable boost
1980 ... well, we alternate with the really inspired and the much less. This title would rather be part of the 2nd category. A beginning of a new decade that leaves much to be desired ...
1982 ... a year 1982 which does not suggest any real improvement at first glance. And yet, it is without counting on what is looming on the horizon ...
1982 ... it won't be for this time yet. But there is better, it is obvious. It remains to wait for 'the big blow'. 'A big blow' which will not be long ...
1983 ... then comes THIS title. A title which will undoubtedly remain as one of the biggest hits of the decade and which makes them definitively return to the musical legend of the 80s. In a totally extraordinary style and which will remain their trademark forever. MAS-TER-FUL !
1985 ... small air gap during the year 1984 and come back in force in this year 1985. The group delivers here a particularly successful track once again and which allows them to stay in contact with the best. Hope it lasts ...
1987 ... new air hole in 1986 and here they are again in 1987 with a style that has evolved, it is clear. There is quality, of course, but their particular style that made all their charm is gone. Race results : this title will be their last hit ...
1988 ... and that, for a change, really changed style. The group tries to stick to the very last musical trends of the moment but is it a winning or losing strategy. Unfortunately, it will be rather the 2nd option that will win ...
1990 ... they will still have made it through 3 decades, which is no small feat. Only the greatest get there. We find them at the beginning of the 90s in a style that would come a little closer to what they did in the early 80s. But there, for once, they are really too out of step ...
1992 ... a last year of existence where they are far from being ridiculous and which allows them to deliver a last major title. Bravo gentlemen for all of your work !
