Valentine wants to swing every night...

Jil Caplan, born Valentine Guilen, is a French singer who started her artistic career by taking theater lessons at Cours Florent.

Her nickname "Kaplan" would come from the reference to actor George Kaplan, in homage to the character of the film "North by Northwest".

It was in 1986 that her destiny changed when she met Jay Alanski, producer and composer of his state while she happened to attend a recording session of a group which began to know… .. “Les Innocents” . Group that she knows well because they are her friends.

Alanski was immediately won over by her personality and allowed her to record a first album "A peine 21" which was released in 1987. The album was a success ! Like the Single “Oh ! Tous les soirs" from which it is taken. Without forgetting the excellent "Comme sur une balançoire" and "Cette fille n'est pas pour toi" which also have a good journey.

The singer's career started soaring. Career that she puts in brackets for 2 years the time to make a getaway in the USA.

She returned in force in 1990 with the album "La charmeuse de serpent" from which will be extracted her top hit "Tout c’qui nous sépare" as well as "Nathalie Wood" which will also work very well.

It will take 3 years to see the album "Avant qu'il ne soit trop tard", the best title of which will be "La grande malle".

Album which will be her last major success. Other albums will be released subsequently but with less success, despite their significant quality.

1988 ... the confirmation of an XXL talent. Unquestionably one of the most beautiful female revelations of the end of this decade on the french side !

1989 ... a jazzy style that works wonderfully and fits her like a glove. And which completely clashes with the standards of the time...

1991 ... a change of decade perfectly mastered thanks to this highly inspired title. Good job !

1991 ... the years go by without the quality weakening by an Iota. A discography which will not remain as the most provided but with more than certain quality !

1992 ... a sudden acceleration in tempo, rare for her. And my faith, it works perfectly again !

1992 ... back to Intimist mode, her favorite field. And once again, she gives us a sumptuous ballad of which she has the secret...

1992...and what about this one ! As paradoxical as it may seem, this version, which is actually a B-side, will at the time go somewhat unnoticed...

1993 ... in the same vein. A very particular style which will allow her to cross the time quietly, but surely...

1994 ... a title to say the least indefinable and above all unclassifiable. So, not sure that he remains as the most famous of all her discography ...

1994 ... the great adventure continues. Admittedly, the artist is no longer familiar with the top of the Charts but continues to produce titles of certain quality...

1995 ... one of the few singers on the French side to have been able to quietly make the transition between the 80s and the 90s...

1996 ... she continues her adventure, whatever it takes. It is clear that she has not been in the French Top50 for a long time, but what she continues to offer is far from being ridiculous ...

1998 ... here she arrived in an original soundtrack. Who would have imagined her signing a title for the French version of 'The Little Mermaid'. And yes, like what, everything is possible !

2005... what is certain is that as long as she takes pleasure in doing what she does, she will continue the adventure as far as possible. Who would blame her !

2007 ... but where is she going to get it all ? 20 years after its debut, still there and in what way ! Here she delivers a title inspired at will which we don't know where. Astonishing ...

2007... where many other artists who started at the same time as her have already disappeared from the music scene for a long time, she is still there in any case...

2007...still just as inspired, still just as effective ! The years go by, just like the decades, without the quality level weakening. What talent !

2013...we will lose sight of her for almost 6 years and here she is again in a project that is atypical to say the least. Not sure that this musical choice is her best...

2013...a parenthesis that we hope to see close quickly. It's hard to imagine that it's the same singer we're dealing with...

2017...here she is back in an already more suitable register. We were afraid that she would get lost in musical crossroads for the less risky...

2018... here she covers a Jacques Brel's title dating from 1962. Surely the best song of the artist to cover concerning her. Waiting for the sequel...
