Untouchable and free...

Adrian Gurvitz is an English singer-songwriter who started his artistic career at the age of 15 playing guitar in the mid-1960s in bands like Screaming Lord Sutch, Billie Davis and other Crispian St Peters.

We find him in 1967 in a group called Rupert’s People, with whom he released a single called "Reflections of Charles Brown", a single which will experience its heyday especially in Australia.

We find him later in the group The Gun, group in which he acts as guitarist and singer. Group with which he enjoyed his first major success thanks to the title "Race with the devil" in 1968. He was only 18 years old ...

The 'The Gun' page closed in 1969, we find him two years later in Three Man Army, a group with which he will release 3 albums from 1971 to 1974. Then in The Baker Gurvitz Army, a group with which he will also release 3 albums from 1974 to 1976.

The solo career began in 1979 with the release of the album "Sweet vendetta". Shortly followed by a second album called "The way I feel". Two albums that will have a hard time finding their audience ...

Ditto for the album "Il assassino" which was released a year later in 1980.

1982 saw him rise again from its ashes in spectacular fashion with the album "Classic", the flagship album of his discography from which the enormous single of the same name was to be extracted. The title will make a real worldwide hit and become its reference title.

Short-lived improvement because he will not be able to repeat the feat afterwards. He will gradually abandon his solo career and write mainly for others. In particular for Eddie Money for which he will write "The love in your eyes" in 1989 and Kenny G. for which he will write "Even if ly heart would break" in 1992. Two titles which will know a rather flattering course in the Charts !

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1979 ... nice beginnings with the typical sound of the end of the 1970s. But that was not enough to launch the career of the young singer for good ...

1979 ... a 1979 year rich in titles but very poor in terms of success. A year of break-in rather than anything else as they say ...

1979 ... third and last title of the year. These 3 titles will at least have had the merit of throwing the singer into the deep end. It's always that ...

1982 ... three years will go by with the previous title and here is the return singer totally transformed. So transformed that he signs here the biggest success of his entire career. And at the same time offers himself a direct ticket to posterity. MAS-TER-FUL !

1982 ... a year 1982 which will undoubtedly remain as its best vintage. Admittedly, this title will not have the same level of success as its predecessor but largely holds the road anyway

1982 ... the 'little' title of the year. We are light years away from the brilliant inspiration of 'Classic'. Attention danger...

1983 ... unfortunately, the fall will be as rapid as the rise. After an exceptional year 1982 for the artist, the rest will prove to be much more complicated to manage than expected ...

1983 ... a career to say the least ephemeral. But with the result a title that will remain as one of the most emblematic titles of the decade. It's always better than nothing !
