Strawberry Switchblabe is a Scottish female duo formed in Glasgow in 1981 and composed of Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall. Duo that will be particularly noticed from its beginnings by the flamboyant outfits they wear and whose main motif is polka dots, small or large.
Duo who released their first single "Trees and flowers" in 1983, a single which was to be highly regarded and propelled them overnight on the front of the stage.
Success confirmed and especially amplified a year later in 1984 with the release of the single "Since yesterday". The success this time goes far beyond the borders of the United Kingdom and allows the duo to finally join the big leagues.
They released their first album in 1985, an album which bears the name of the duo and which will achieve significant success but which will nevertheless struggle to produce other high-caliber singles. “Ler her go” and “Who knows waht love is ?", both taken from the album, were to be met with modest success.
Only the title "Jolene", which came out in 1985 and which is a luxury cover of the title of Dolly Parton dating from 1973, will allow them to temporarily return to success.
An absence of success that saw the group separate the following year in 1986.
To discover or rediscover.

Clips :
1983 ... the first steps of a colorful and somewhat quirky duo. But in this specific case, the wacky side in no way affects the quality of the compositions, the proof with this particularly successful first title !
1984 ... from the second title, the duo obtained the biggest success of his - brief - career. A nice title that works perfectly and shows that these 2 girls had everything to please. HU-GE !
1984 ... whether they are in the festive and playful field or in the Intimist field, they assure ! They offer us here a nice moment of simple emotions but with formidable efficiency !
1985 ... they're overspeeding again ! A supercharged side that they assume perfectly and that they have made their goodwill somewhere. Who would blame them ...
1985 ... a BIG year 1985 with titles do you want some ! Each title will be classified in addition, a nice feat. Admittedly, success of small scale but it is always better than nothing as they say !
1985 ... they deliver here a particularly surprising revisited version of the title of Dolly Parton dating from 1973, it was necessary to dare it this one ! With the key, their second biggest success. It just goes to show that the best soups are made in old pots ...
1985 ... surely one of their greatest success ! A playful title with wishes and which works perfectly, showing by itself that these 2 particularly original young women were really talented !
1985 ... a truly unique style that will have them stood out from the crowd until the end. Certainly, they will not often have touched the stars but the overall quality of their work is frankly of a high level, it is undeniable
1986 ... four short years and then go ! Their career will have been most ephemeral, but it is better to have quality ephemeral rather than uninteresting longevity. Just for that, well done girls !
