The Nolans is an Anglo-Irish group formed in Blackpool in 1974, originally from a family group called 'The Singing Nolans', a group that was formed in 1963 and composed at the time of Tommy and Maureen Nolan and seven of their eight children, namely Tommy, Brian, Anne, Denise, Maureen, Linda and Bernadette. A group that would produce a single album in 1972.

It was in 1973 that the girls were noticed by businessman Joe Lewis, who offered them the chance to perform at his personal Club in London. The Nolan family therefore left for London the following year and it was in 1974 that the girls would take the name 'The Nolan Sisters'. They were found the same year in Cliff Richard's TV show, a media exposure that would allow them to sign with the EMI label, a label with which they released a first title "But I do" still the same year.

A first album "The Nolan sisters" would be released in 1975 and produce several Singles but without this allowing the girls to explode in the media.

They would have to wait until 1978 and the release of the covers album "20 Giant hits" to finally see all their efforts rewarded. Only the album would be classified but it at least allowed them to launch their career for good.

It was the signing with the Epic Records label in 1979 that would allow them to pass the last level on which they were stumbling thanks to the release of the album "Nolan sisters", an album that would produce the biggest success of their entire discography, namely the enormous "I'm in the mood for dancing". The Single will be a real global hit and project the girls in a rather resounding way to the forefront of the international scene, especially in Japan.

Success confirmed and especially amplified on the album side with the release in 1980 of the album "Making waves", an album carried by two flagship Singles : "Don't make waves" and "Gotta pull myself together". A year 1980 which saw the group change its name and now call himself 'The Nolans'.

New album "Portrait" in 1982, an album which once again confirmed the excellent health of the group, notably thanks to the big-time Singles "Chemistry" and "Don't love me too hard".

A great adventure which will unfortunately take a less glorious turn later with the release of other albums but none will be able to bring the girls back to the forefront in a consistent way.

1972...family beginnings as only this 70s decade could produce. Ah, what a beautiful era of carelessness and lightness...

1972... it won't allow the Nolan clan to explode at the highest level but it will at least have allowed people to talk about them, that's already something...

1974...the girls will not have gone unnoticed in any case and here they are on their first official title as a full-fledged group...

1975...and very quickly the girls will start to make people talk about them. Of course, we will have to wait a little longer for the big take-off, but the rise in power is very real...

1975...everything is refined year after year, the style and sound of the titles as well as the look of the girls. Obviously a good omen for the rest of the events...

1976...the ascent to the top is underway and all that remains is to produce THE title that will finally propel them into the big leagues...

1976...they're working on it anyway. All that's left is to find the little something that will change everything. They're looking for it, they're looking for it...

1977...it is certain that history is in the making concerning them and that all their work will end up paying off at one point or another...

1977...they fit perfectly with the times and everything is now in place for the big take-off. It can't be otherwise, that's for sure...

1978...their revisited version of Crystal Gayle's title from the previous year will not be able to equal the original but it is far from being unworthy in any case...

1978...here they are now revisiting the title of David Soul (aka Hutch in the series Starsky and Hutch) dating from the year 1976. Nice version once again...

1978...then it's the turn of Stevie Wonder's title also dating from 1976 to find favor. Good work once again...

1979...the girls will try to participate in the English selections for Eurovision. Considered the favorites, a series of strange events will prevent them from arriving first in the end...

1979...finally a first ranked title. It took them a while to get it but it's now done, which proves that everything comes to those who wait...

1979...and then THIS title arrives ! They have finally found the miracle recipe that makes a title a huge global success with the key to obtaining a direct ticket to posterity. HU-GE !

1980...a success not amplified but well and truly confirmed in the wake with this new title. Everything is going at least ideally from now on...

1980...the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s were on a roll, as they say. Girls had better make the most of it as much as possible...

1980...because as always, after reaching the top of the mountain, you have to come back down. Now the question is how fast...

1981... a title that will only be released in Japan, hence a necessarily very limited influence. A Japan that will welcome them like real princesses...

1981...even if the success weakens somewhat it still remains substantial, which can only reassure about the form of the group at this stage...

1981...another title to be released only in the land of the rising sun. There will be more and more of them like this with the same consequence each time, that is to say a limited success...

1981...a beautiful and BIG year 1981 with 3 major successes. The girls have a perfect command of their subject and it can be heard...

1981...not sure they can repeat this feat in the future. It could even be that the descent accelerates brutally...

1982...and it's going to speed up. The girls are increasingly suffering the effects of competition and are struggling more and more to stay well placed in the race...

1982...the girls' style is seriously starting to look a little pale next to the other girl groups that are now emerging...

1983...styles and sounds are evolving very quickly now and if the girls don't adapt quickly the exit door risks opening more quickly than expected...

1985...covering Cyndi Lauper's 1983 hit is well-intentioned, but surpassing the original would have been an incredible feat...

1985...an adventure which is certainly becoming more complicated in any case and which suggests that the best years are now far behind...

1986...the unclassified titles follow one another and clearly prove that girls are no longer really in tune with the times...

1991...we'll lose sight of them for almost 5 years but here they are again anyway. Rebirth or on the contrary confirmation of the irremediable programmed disappearance of the group, good question...

1991...we would rather be heading towards the 2nd option. They will put the package as they say during this year 1991 but unfortunately nothing will change...

1991...the competition is now light years ahead and the girls will never again be able to catch up with the pack...
