The ultimate Class !

Chic is an American group formed in 1976 in New York by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, joined a year later by Tonu Thompson, Raymond Jones and Norma Jean Wright. A last recruit, Luci Martin, will arrive in 1978.

They released their first Single "Dance, dance, dance (Yowsah, yowsah, yowsah) in 1977 followed by little" Evrerybody dance ". Esteem success.

It was a year later in 1978 that the reputation of the group exploded with the release of the cult Single "Le Freak", a disco monument from the late 70s which sold over 6,000,000 copies !

Building on this interplanetary success, they re-offend a year later with the album "Risqué", from which a new mega hit, "Good times", will be released.

At the same time, the accomplices Rodgers and Edwards will compose and produce titles which will prove to be huge hits for other groups or singers : "We are family" for the Sister Sledge, the enormous "Spacer" for Sheila , "Upside down", "I'm coming out" and "My old piano" for Diana Ross, among others…. !

At the beginning of the 80s, the Disco wave died out completely and the group negotiated this turn relatively poorly. Separation is inevitable.

Rodgers and Edwards will produce in the years which follow an impressive number of artists who for the majority will know notable successes (Diana Ross, David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran… among others).

1977 ... the first steps of a small group totally unknown but which will not remain so for a long time. The basics are already there, it only remains to unroll. And to unroll, it will unroll !

1978 ... the rise in power is linear and we feel that this group is capable of doing great things. Even very great things !

1978 ... after a fanfare start, the group suddenly goes into an air gap with this title. A title that will not even be ranked despite an obvious quality. Go figure ...

1978 ... then comes THIS title. The group signs here quite simply one of the biggest Dance hits of the XXth century, even of all time. An intergalactic and transgenerational tube that propels One Shot group members to the rank of planetary stars. MAS-TER-PIE-CE simply !

1979 ... new intergalactic hit which definitely consecrates them as one of the best Dance bands of all time. A unique know-how that literally crushes the competition. We touch to perfection !

1979 ... the group unrolls with absolutely disconcerting ease. Each title released almost instantly becomes a global mega hit. Masters of the world !

1979 ... 100 % Dance, 1000 % Dance, 10 000 % Dance, this is the guiding line of the group. A style that they master perfectly and that allows them to be close to the stars !

1980 ... a slight change in decade compared to the two previous years which we would describe as exceptional. The rest will prove more difficult to manage than expected ...

1980 ... the exceptional sound is still exceptional, fortunately. This allows the group to stay in the lead, but beware of dropping out at the start of the new decade ...

1982 ... a beautiful year 1982 with two large caliber titles which allow the group to stay afloat. But it is clear that fighting with competition is getting harder and harder ...

1983 ... the group still believes in it and continues to deliver quality. But for how long ...?

1984 ... for the moment, he resists and he resists rather well. Yet another world class title which shows once again that this group is truly one of the best of its generation. HU-GE !

1987 ... 10 years after the original, a remix version of "Le Freak" of very high class. When the band remixes himself ...

1992 ... one of the rare groups to have had titles classified over 3 distinct decades. An incredible feat mainly due to this almost unique Funk sound that will forever remain their trademark !

1992...on the Charts side the adventure is not quite over since this title will also know the favors of the public. It remains to be seen if there will be more...

2006...we will lose sight of them for nearly 14 years and here they are again with the Shapeshifters. A role of guest stars which will allow them above all to show that they still exist...

2015...this time it's the group alone that is trying to come back to center stage. We thought we would never see them again but it was very bad to know them with icing on the cake this title which will not go unnoticed...

2018...they will even release a new opus at the end of the decade, who would have thought that possible ? A new opus that will pass somewhat under the radar but no matter, they are indeed back and that is above all the important thing !

2018...we can only rejoice in any case to see this legendary group reborn from its ashes. We definitely want more !
