The 4 daughters of Dr Sledge...

Sister Sledge is an American group formed in 1971 in Philadelphia and composed of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kathy and Kim Sledge. Quator who will have won the trifle of a hundred or so Awards.

Their first Single "Time will tell" was released in 1971 but it was not until 1973 and the Single "Mama never told me" to see them land their first success.

The first album "Circle of love" was released in 1975 and enjoyed great success in Europe. 1977 followed by the album "Together" which produced a single hit with "Blockbuster boy".

Everything accelerates when they meet in 1979 Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of the group Chic, who will produce for them the album "We are family" Album from which will be extracted the enormous "He's the greatest dancer" which becomes at this time there the biggest success of their career.

Followed by few other mega-hits namely "We are family". The band's notoriety exploded and the album was a real hit.

A year later in 1980, the album "Love somebody today" was released which produced the Single of the same name. Album which will unfortunately be unable to compete with the previous one.

The hole was quickly overcome with the 1981 release of the album "All American Girls" which produced the mega-hit of the same name. Followed by few of another rather reggae influenced hit "He’s just a runaway".

New success in 1982 with the release of the album "The sisters" which saw the title "My guy" make a good run in the charts. Then it was the turn of the album "Bet chasay that to all the girls" in 1983 to experience equivalent success.

In 1984, it was the track "Lost in music", one of the very first tracks of the group, specially reworked for the occasion, which this time enjoyed the favor of the public.

The "Sisters" had a last major success in 1985 with the Single "Frankie", taken from the album "When the boys meet the girls". Last success which will thus end the grandiose epic of this extraordinary family and which will have left in history certain Dance songs of anthology.

Tracks :

1971...the Jackson 5 girls version. And my faith, it all starts very well with this title all in finesse and lightness particularly inspired...

1973...from the start the 4 girls show a more than obvious potential. Certainly for the moment only in the Intimist register but that's already it...

1973... it is by accelerating the tempo that the girls will achieve their first success and paradoxically not on their native land but in England...

1974...this time it's the opposite, big success in the United States but only there. Anyway, the girls are starting to make a name for themselves and that's the main thing...

1975...they had started their career gently but they are showing that they are also particularly effective in Dance...

1975...a linear rise in power and necessarily heralding beautiful and great things later. It now remains to produce THE title of the big take-off...

1975... it won't be with this title anyway. A title that will go somewhat unnoticed but that does not slow down the progressive flight of the 4 girls...

1975... ditto for this one. Nothing serious at this stage but simply a year of transition before a sequel which promises to be much more favorable...

1976...we could have imagined a follow-up just as Dance, mid-1970s oblige. On the contrary, they will remind you once again that they can also excel in the 'emotional' register...

1977... the girls now manage to classify almost all the titles they produce. It is certain that the best is yet to come, it is more than obvious...

1977...everything is now in place for the big take-off, it's just a matter of time. We just have to be a little patient...

1977...another nice title of which they have the secret. Unfortunately and despite an obvious quality it will not be talked about more than that...

1978 ... only one title will be released during this year 1978 and will pass 'through' what can be worrying about the following events. To be continued as they say...

1979 ... finished the extras, the girls move up a gear. And what speed ! First global hit, just that. They surely sign here one of the biggest dance hits of the 70s...

1979 ... but that's without counting on this HUGE title which will remain as the biggest success of all their discography. All Dancefloor around the world still remember it !

1979 ... an exceptional year 1979 which definitively consecrates them as one of the very best groups of the decade and of the end of the twentieth period. Hats off girls !

1979 ... a 4th hit to end the year in style. 4th hit for 4 girls at the top of their possibilities. A group that will undeniably remain as one of the most talented 'family' groups...

1980 ... little slump at the start of the 1980s. After an incredible 1979, it is normal for the girls to give up a little ballast ...

1980...certainly the girls are a bit treading water at the start of the 80s but nothing to worry about at this stage, especially when you see what's to come...

1981 ... because they shouldn't be underestimated. A resounding comeback with this HUGE title which once again sets all Dancefloor on fire. A title that doesn't remind you of something ...?

1999 ... and yes, Sex Bomb is actually a rearranged cover of "All american girls". One mega tube that calls for another. Like what, when the base is good ...

1981... it is clear that this title will not be able to match the title which preceded it since it is in a radically opposite tempo. But it is far from demerit anyway...

1981...three titles released during this year 1981 and three classified titles, which is not nothing. The girls continue to ride the wave of success with more than obvious ease...

1982...for the moment nothing is able to curb their momentum at first sight. Especially since this cover of the title of Mary Wells dating from 1964 will bring them a new success to add to a prize list that is beginning to count a certain number...

1982...a year 1982 which undoubtedly rhymes with luxury revivals. This time it will be the title of Linda Clifford dating from the previous year which will have their favors, a title which will be taken up a few years later by a certain Whitney Houston and in what way !

1983 ... the deceleration is accentuated from year to year. Girls always have the level, that's clear. But without the spark of genius that makes all the difference ...

1983... after the adventure is far from over and the girls have the potential to bounce back. Hopefully this will be the case later...

1984...the proof with this new title which shows that everything is still possible. As long as the quality is there, there is no reason to worry more than that...

1985 ... the last notorious hit. And not the least ! But this time, the end is really fast approaching ...

1985 ... almost 15 years after their debut, the great adventure of the 4 girls is coming to an end. An incredible adventure which allowed them to leave musical treasures of which they can be proud in the musical history of the 80s, that's for sure !

1985...it's not quite over but the titles that will be released now will only experience a limited level of success, if not non-existent...

1986...the girls hold on as hard as they can and try to resist as much as possible. A desire to believe in it to the end which undoubtedly commands respect...

1986...we find them in soundtrack mode mode for the movie 'Playing for keeps', a soundtrack mode in which we weren't used to seeing them. And why not tell me...

1997... when we thought the adventure was definitely over, here they are back almost 11 years later. A return that will inevitably delight the grassroots fans to the highest degree...

1997... a comeback that will unfortunately go somewhat unnoticed by the general public. It must be said that the 11-year absence did not help...

1997...they will at least have tried. Afterwards, it was almost an impossible mission to succeed in returning to the race after so many years of absence...

1997... whatever it is, we will take advantage of what they offer us to the end. Because there is quality in all this, it is undeniable...

2003...new air hole of 6 years but here they are again. There will be no more miracle than on the previous opus unfortunately...

2003...an adventure that won't go any further this time. The girls have reached the end of the end and there will be no other return and this for sure...
