Stand up for your love rights...

Yazz, whose real name is Yasmin Evans, is an English singer who had her first major success playing luxury backing vocals in 1988 on the track "Doctorin 'the house" by the group Coldcut.

A year 1988 which also sees her start solo and in what way with the title "The only way is up". Huge Single which will set fire to all Dancefloor on the planet this year and which will remain as the biggest success of all her discography. Followed by a few "Stand up for your love rights" which will also experience a nice global journey.

Two Singles from her first album "Wanted" which also came out in 1988. Album which will produce two new top hits in 1989 with "Where has all the love gone" but also, and above all, the excellent "Fine time".

New notorious success in 1990 with the Single “Treat me good”. Singles which will be - already - her last major. Other titles will be released later but without meeting the same level of success.

A career that will come to an end, on the one hand because of an increasingly strong dependence on alcohol and on the other hand, by a total personal questioning which will take her towards a spiritual path totally incompatible with her passed life.

Tracks :

1988 ... a first title, and above all a first global success, which sends her straight to the big leagues. She couldn't have asked for a better start, that's obvious !

1988 ... an absolutely incredible year 1988 for the singer with a second title which makes her enter directly into the musical legend of the 80s. Here she signs the biggest success of all her discography and especially one of the biggest hits Dance of the decade. MAS-TER-FUL !

1988 ... the year of all records with a 3rd mega planetary in the wake. The singer is undoubtedly one of the biggest planetary phenomena of the moment. And this in just one year !

1989 ... she will have excelled in the Dance niche the previous year but she shows here that she can be just as effective in the Intimist field. She delivers here an absolutely sumptuous title which once again confirms all the good that one can think of her. MA-GIC !

1989 ... back to Dance mode to end the decade in style. Another title that works very well, even if the level of success is starting to weaken somewhat ...

1990 ... a rather successful transition to the 90s with this title which gives her a new planetary consecration. Not sure that the rest will be so favorable ...

1992 ... she disappears from radar during 1991 and here she is back in 1992 in a form that we will qualify as average. This title will only experience a very limited level of success. Like everything that will follow from now on ...

1993 ... when you start to do in the luxury cover, it is not always a good sign. Even if this revisited version of the Ace title dating from 1975 is far from being devoid of interest, it will only very temporarily put the singer back on the rails of success ...

1994 ... she is far from being ridiculous but the level of inspiration is no longer sufficient to allow her to compete on equal terms with the competition. When it does not want more, no need to insist ...

1994 ... another luxury cover this time of one of the most beautiful jewels of the decade namely the 'Everybody's got to learn sometime' of the Korgis dating from 1980. Considering the original jewel, it was mission impossible that to hope to have the same level of success as the latter ...

1996 ... and we continue in the luxury cover. This time, it is the title of a certain Michael Jackson himself and dating from 1972 that she dares to resume. A new quality cover but which unfortunately will not add much more to the original version

1997 ... and no, it is not a cover of Gloria Gaynor's flagship title that she performs here because in truth, the original version of this title belongs to...Jackson Five and dates from the year 1971, and yes !

1998 ... a last title to close an adventure which will have started in a sensational way to end in a much more discreet way. Hard law of the trade ...

2008... when we thought we would probably never see her again, here she is back 10 years later in a certain form. Certain but insufficient to return to the race...

2008... her absence of 10 years was too long and as a result her return will go unnoticed to say the least. Too bad because what she now offers is far from unworthy...

2008... whatever it is, it's the grassroots fans who are delighted at this unexpected comeback. And who necessarily asks for more...

2011... so she said to herself that it might be worth trying again and this time to see if the public comes back. Nice try but the result will be the same...

2011...she will have at least tried and we can only encourage her to believe in it again and again because in music, we know, nothing is ever finished...

2011...now remains to be seen if she will have the courage to come back again. Only the future and her can answer the question...
