Marshall Crenshaw is an American singer-songwriter who really started his artistic career when he joined the troupe of the musical 'Beatlemania' in 1978. First as a stand-in in New York, then in the troupe which performed on the West Coast, then in the main troop.
Show that he left in 1980 to join forces with his brother Robert and a certain Chris Donato to produce his first solo title "Something's gonna happen". Title that will go somewhat unnoticed…
It is the signature with the Warner Bros. Records label which will allow him to move up a gear and especially to release a first eponymous album in 1982. An album which will not go unnoticed far from it, in particular thanks to the enormous Single "Someday, someway". Flagship title which remains to this day the biggest success of all his discography, just that...
Success confirmed but not amplified the following year with the release of the album "Field day", album with almost equivalent success but which will struggle to produce the slightest Single of planetary class. He will come out just fine thanks to the title "Whenever you're on my mind" which will be the only title to pull out of the game...
It will be necessary to wait for the year 1985 to see the release of his new album "Downtown", an album with the most limited success and which above all will be unable to classify the slightest title.
A counter-performance that will strongly weigh down the career of the artist, who will never really raise his head, despite the release of other albums thereafter...
To discover or rediscover.

Clips :
1979...a very first title which will go somewhat unnoticed despite a certain quality. Owen Paul will take it over in 1986 and this time the title will be a real hit...
1981...still no classified title on the horizon. The young singer still can't pass the level that would allow him to enter the big leagues...
1982...this time he will pass and how ! He will quite simply get here the biggest success of his entire career and offer himself a direct ticket to posterity in stride. HU-GE !
1982 ... as incomprehensible as it may seem, this title will go completely under the radar despite the enormous suction effect generated by the previous title. Cruel turn of events...
1982... this one will succeed in saving the furniture in extremis but really narrowly. The singer can't capitalize on the huge success of 'Someday, Someway' despite his best efforts...
1983...it's really hard to understand why success is so limited, but it's the harsh law of the trade. Difficult to fight in these conditions when the fate is against...
1983 ... in any case he is not discouraged and basically he is right. Because we know it well, in music everything is always possible...
1985...fortunately the albums still manage to be classified because on the Singles side it's dull plain. And it's not ready to work out...
1985...as long as quality and inspiration are there, we will be satisfied with what he has to offer. And so far that's largely the case...
1986...he went through the second half of the decade more or less with general indifference. Fortunately, the basic fans are still there to support him at least...
1987...good work as usual but which no longer interests many people at first sight. Apart from a miracle, there is no longer any hope of seeing him return to the race...
1987... more than one would have thrown in the towel in his place but he believes in what he is doing. And he will still believe it for a long time...
1989...a title originally written for Belinda Carlisle and which will end up in the singer's purse. A title that allows him to temporarily return to the Charts and still at the back of the pack...
1991 ... a passage to the next decade in supercharged mode but which unfortunately will not supercharge his career. The bets have long been cast and there will be no turning back...
1996... him in any case continues to believe in it and it doesn't matter whether there is success or not. Afterwards, as long as he takes pleasure in what he does...
1996...especially since it is far from unworthy. But the general public has gone elsewhere for a long time and all his efforts to bring them back will be in vain...
1996... he will still release no less than 3 albums during this decade, which shows that he is still hopeful. What we don't really know...
1999...a decade that ends with this new opus. Another opus of certain quality but which, like its predecessors, will go under the radar...
1999... he will have produced an impressive number of titles throughout his career and only one will have been rewarded in a notorious way. Hard law of the trade...
2003...and here he is again. New decade, new opus, new hopes ? Not sure that this decade is more favorable to him than the previous one...
2003...and yet he puts more than obvious good will into it. Efforts that are not really rewarded at the height of what they should be...
2009...new air hole of 6 years and here he is back at the very end of the 2000 decade. Still as motivated at first sight...
2009... it comes from a good feeling to believe in miracles but there won't be more on this opus than on its predecessor. When it no longer wants, it no longer wants...
2009 ... whatever it is, we imagine that this title will not be the last. Because we now know with him, everything is always possible and it could therefore be that we find him later...
