Some hearts are diamonds...

Chris Norman is an English singer best known for having been the leader of the group 'Smokie' between 1964 and 1986.

Group that he founded with some school friends and with which he will know several notorious successes including "If you thing you know how to love me" in 1975 and "Living next door to Alice" in 1976.

In parallel with 'Smokie', he began a solo career at the end of the 1970s and won his first resounding success as a duet with Suzi Quatro on the title "Stumblin' in" in 1978.

He released a first solo album "Rock away your teardrops" in 1982, an album which would go unnoticed to say the least and which would be unable to produce any high-caliber Singles.

It was only 4 years later that the solo career really took off with the release in 1986 of the hit Single "Midnight lady". Single from the album "Some hearts are diamonds" which will be released the same year and which will also meet with significant success.

1986 was an exceptional year in all respects for the artist but which will be the only one at this level because many albums will be released thereafter but none will be able to match the success met by "Some hearts are diamonds".

1975...the first steps in grouped mode. What could be better than doing your classes together, which allows you to make the most of collective emulation...

1976 ... the group will land its biggest hit here and above all get noticed internationally in a consistent way. Ideal launching pad for the future solo career...

1977...a mid-1970s that saw the band reach its peak. Everything smiles on them as if by magic and the top hits follow one another at an impressive speed...

1977...a beautiful and especially BIG year 1977 with a group in full possession of its means. Hope it lasts as they say...

1978... it lasts, it lasts, but it is clear that the group slows down all the same. The level of success remains substantial but it should be noted that it is now limited to the Old Continent...

1978...a first solo title in...duet ! An astonishing parenthesis that will quite simply offer him the biggest success of his entire discography thanks to a planetary mega success that is unexpected to say the least. HU-GE !

1979...here he is again in grouped mode. A return to several who will not really succeed since this title will be far, very far, from experiencing the same level of success as the enormous previous Single...

1980...they will even attempt the transition to the 80s. A desire to continue the adventure which commands respect but which will not really benefit them...

1982... he will leave the ship 'Smokie' in stride but we can not say that it will succeed him more than that. He will therefore have to ask himself the right questions and quickly...

1983... here he covers a Pat Benatar's title released the same year. His version will not really know the same level of success as the original model...

1984 ... no noticeable improvement during the year 1984. The singer does not manage to get his solo career off again and is only on the spot for the moment ...

1986 ... no title during the year 1985 and here he is back in this year 1986. A return this time winner because he will get here his biggest solo success. Finally !

1986...a 1986 vintage that will stay as his best vintage in his solo career. Not sure that he will be able to reproduce the feat in future years unfortunately...

1986...the 'little' hit of the year. This title will find it difficult to compete with the two that preceded it, but that in no way taints a year 1986 which will have proved remarkable for the artist...

1987...the years follow each other but are not necessarily alike, the proof with this new year 1987. Despite an obvious desire to stick to the latest musical trends of the moment, success is not really going to be there...

1988...it is clear that the best years are already behind him. This will not prevent him from continuing the adventure in his own way and without really taking into account the success - or not - of the titles he will release...

1988... he will try the magic duo again 10 years after the previous one. It starts from a good feeling but this title there will not really know the same level of success as his charming duo of the year 1978...

1988 ... he will succeed in saving the furniture in extremis with this title but it will indeed be one of the last times he will manage to do so. Hard law of the trade...

1989 ... the end of the 80s which will see him gradually disappear from the radar at least on the Charts side. Because the adventure is far, very far from over...

1990... he absolutely does not intend to stop in such a good way at first sight. He considers that as long as he takes pleasure in doing what he does, there is no reason not to continue to believe in it...

1991...we know it well, in music, everything is always possible. A maxim that he made his own at first sight and that he intends to see come true...

1992...here he is again with his partner who offered him his biggest commercial success on a set in 1978. Same duet but not really the same success. Too bad because it was well tried...

1993...he is not discouraged by an Iota and makes it a point of honor to come back each year to offer new titles. Rightly or wrongly, that's something else...

1993 ... we can not say that what he continues to offer is devoid of interest but it is clear that the competition is far ahead now. A continuation of a career that will therefore inevitably become complicated...

1994... he does not take it into account in any case. As long as he continues to exist on a musical level, that is enough to make him progress day after day and especially year after year...

1994... which implies that it will still be there in the years and especially the decades to come. A desire to move forward that unquestionably commands respect...

1995... who would blame him for continuing to believe in it again and again ? What is certain is that we will be largely satisfied with what he continues to produce...

1995...a discography that grows year after year and shows an irrepressible need to produce titles. This is also the life of an artist...

1996... each year of the 90s will see the release of several titles. We will only retain the best because otherwise it would represent a list of titles far too large...

1997...the 90s didn't allow him to get back in the pack, but the future will show that he was right to hang on. With a slight upturn to come in the next decade...

1997...for the moment, no improvement in sight and it will be like that until the very end of the decade. No improvement but quality all the same, isn't that the main thing...

2001...and here he is beginning his 4th decade of career. A decade 2000 which will see him return to the race in an unexpected way...

2002...starting with this title. And this time, it's a 100 % male duo that will allow him to get back in the pack. At least in the Germanic sphere because the title is in German which will necessarily limit its influence...

2003...he couldn't confirm that he was indeed back. We will therefore have to be a little patient to see him really come to the surface...

2004...it's the year 2004 that will allow him to return to the front of the stage in a notorious way. Once again, success will be limited almost exclusively to the Germanic sphere, but it's better than nothing as they say...

2011... here he adds a new decade to his career with this resumption of the Snow Patrol title dating from 2006. He will come back again and again but that we now know...

2013...he is slowly but surely approaching 40 years of career. A feat that will not have been reserved for everyone and which will be even less so for future generations, that's clear...

2014...we are once again tempted by the duo of shock and charm. We could have hoped that given the respective talent of each the duo would make sparks but its influence will be very limited unfortunately...

2015...regardless of the failures and poor performances, he still does not intend to stop there. His willingness to believe in it again and again is impressive to say the least, it is clear...

2017...a decade 2010 where he will have been present almost every year, which nevertheless underlines the performance achieved on the production side of titles...

2017...and some years will even be particularly dense in terms of titles produced. He tries by all means to get back in the race but nothing works despite all his efforts...

2022...we suspected that he was going to move on to the next decade. We therefore imagine that this title will not be the last and that there will necessarily be a sequel to this story which has lasted for more than 45 years...
