Oh la la la...

TC Matic is a Belgian group which finds its origins in the early 1970s when two friends, Arno Hintjens and Paul Decoutere, joined forces to form the duo Tjens-Couter.

Duo which became a group in 1974 with the addition of two other friends, Ferre Baelen and Rudy Cloet. Which group officially became TC Matic in 1980, a group name that combines the initials of 'Tjens' and 'Couter' to which is associated the name of the Yugoslav poet Dusan Matic.

It was the departure of Decoutere and the arrival of Jean-Marie Aerts that would change the situation and allow the group to achieve his first big success a year later in 1981 with the title "Oh la la la", title taken from their eponymous debut album.

A rise in power that they were unable to confirm with the release of the album "L'Apache" the following year in 1982.

It will therefore be necessary to wait for the release of the album "Choco" in 1983 to see them return to the race, in particular thanks to the enormous single "Putain, putain".

The album "Ye ye" would be released two years later but only had a very limited level of success. A new failure that will seal the fate of the group, which will eventually separate in 1986...

Clips :

1981...like any good self-respecting Belgian band, the sound, just like the style, is not really reserved for ordinary mortals. We are therefore warned from the first title...

1981... after, as always, they all start the same way and still manage to fall into line at one time or another. So let's be a little patient...

1981...the group finally manages to make people talk about him with this title. We're not talking about a planetary tidal wave, that's clear, but the group is finally starting to make a name for himself on the old Continent...

1982...unfortunately, the group does not manage to surf on the dynamics created by the previous title. So be careful of leaving the road prematurely...

1982...they are far from being ridiculous but their style is still too obscure for the general public. The group will really have to move upmarket if he wants to compete on equal terms with the competition...

1982... the move upmarket will not take place during this year 1982, that's for sure. Let's give them a little more time to see if they are able to ask themselves the right questions...

1983...still no noticeable improvement in this new year 1983. The group remains firm on its fundamentals and does not intend to change anything for the moment at first sight...

1983...and yet they don't miss much to pass the level on which they have stumbled since their beginnings. It could be that their next title will finally allow them to pass it...

1983...it is THIS title that will finally allow them to know a semblance of high level recognition. Once again in a less academic style but which will have paid off this time in any case...

1985...the band's last album. An adventure that was short-lived to say the least, but which allowed Arno to emerge from the masses and begin to make a good place for himself in the sun...

1985 ... the adventure will not go further than this year 1985 but these 4 busy years will have at least allowed the group to register its name a little bit in the musical history of the 80s. It's already that !

1985...a pity that the adventure ends there for the group because the rise in power was visible and foreshadowed possible great achievements. Fate will have decided otherwise...

1985... an unclassifiable and timeless title to finish. A group that will never have been able to find its place in the sun as he should have but which will not have been unworthy, far from it...
