Men Without Hats is a Canadian band formed in Montreal in 1977 and originally composed of Ivan Doroschuk, Pete Seabrooke, Dave Hill and John Gurrin. A band name "Men Without Hats" which would in truth be a reference to the fact that they refused to wear hats during cold winters thus favoring style to the detriment of comfort.

The band will release a first mini album "Folk of the 80's" in 1980, a mini album of obvious interest but which will go unnoticed to say the least.

Which is absolutely not the case for the following album "Rhythm of youth", an album which will explode the band's notoriety internationally, notably thanks to the enormous Single "The safety dance". A title which will remain as the biggest success of their entire discography.

Huge success that they will have difficulty confirming with the release in 1984 of the album "Folk of the 80's (Part III)", an album with much less success and which will barely get by only with the title "Where do the boys go ?".

We will have to wait 3 more years and the year 1987 to see them finally raise their heads thanks to the release of the album "Pop goes the world", an album which sees them reconnect with global success mainly thanks to the title which bears the name of the album.

New album "The adventures of women & men without hate in the 21st century" in 1991, an album which will be their last to know the favors of the public in a significant way.

Other albums and other Singles will be released afterwards but none will be able to match the success encountered at the beginning of the 80s.

1980...the beginnings of a Canadian group that strongly resembles an English group, both in style and sound...

1980...now it remains to be seen how they intend to lead their career precisely. Mainly on European influences or rather on North American influences. Good question...

1980...only the future will be able to answer this question. For now in any case it is clear that this group has potential, that's for sure...

1982...the first success came two years later and above all confirmed that the group's potential was indeed real. This boded well for the rest of the events...

1982...it didn't take long for the group to achieve the biggest success of their entire career, and a global success at that, and at the same time give themselves a direct ticket to posterity. HU-GE !

1982...difficult, if not almost impossible, for this new title to exist in the shadow of the previous enormous steamroller. This is often the case in this kind of scenario...

1982...business picks up with this new title but only just. The title will be classified, certainly, but only in Great Britain...

1982...a new title to go 'through'. Five titles will be released this year 1982 with very different destinies to say the least...

1984...return of success in North America but no longer in Great Britain. Clearly, the rest of the group's career is quite complicated...

1984...another title that will go unnoticed to say the least. With them, it's a title that works and then a title that goes 'through'...

1984...this title will not even be released as a Single but it would have been a shame to hide it. Here it is brought back into the spotlight as it should be...

1987...they would have to wait until 1987 to finally return to the forefront and in a very beautiful way with this new title which was also a worldwide success...

1987...less success for this title but the beautiful adventure continues for the group whatever happens. Isn't that the main thing as they say...

1987...it would have been too good if all their titles from 1987 were ranked. There had to be at least one that went unnoticed and it will be this one...

1989...from now on, success, when there will be any, will be limited exclusively to Canada. No more high level and return to a career at least at local level...

1989...after that it's still better than nothing. As long as they can still benefit from a minimum of loyal audience there is no reason to worry more than that...

1989...new title not to be released officially. Might as well make people talk about it a little bit because it is far from being unworthy, that's clear...

1991...this one on the other hand will come out as a Single. A release that will be rewarded since the title will indeed be classified but it will unfortunately be the last to be...

1991...all the others that will come after either will not be classified, or will not even be released as Singles. Like this one...

1991...they won't be officially released but they are not without merit, far from it. Might as well bring them back into the spotlight as much as possible then...

2003...we'll lose sight of them for almost 12 years but here they are again anyway. A return that will go somewhat unnoticed unfortunately...

2003...this prolonged absence really didn't help and a large part of their original audience went elsewhere to see if they were there...

2003 ..hard law of the trade as they say and the competition does not give any gifts to the latecomer as they say. On the contrary even...

2012... another 9-year gap this time but they are back once again. We can see that they make a point of honor to come back at least once during each decade...

2012...and it's a good thing for them because they still have quality things to offer, it's clear. We'll be more than happy with that in any case...

2012...it's clear that the production of titles has slowed down but certainly not to the detriment of quality. Excellent work as usual...

2021...it now takes them about a decade to produce a new opus but they produce it in any case and this to the great delight of their core fans...

2021...there is real talent in this group and neither the years nor the decades have altered it, which is still a real feat in itself...

2021... they've been here for 40 years, which is no small feat. As always, only the most gifted of each generation last that long...

2022...especially since this decade 2020 seems to inspire them to the highest degree given the number of titles produced at the start of this decade...
