GQ is an American group that was born in 1968 originally under the name of 'Sabu & The Survivors', then 'The Rhythm Makers'. Group originally composed of Emanuel Leblanc, Keith 'Sabu' Crier, Herb Lane and Kenny Banks.
Group which released a first album "Soul on your side" in 1976, which will offer them their first major success with the title "Zone".
It was in 1978 that the group took the name GQ (which is supposed to mean Good Quality…) and it was under this new name that the group signed with the Arista Records label.
Label which allows them to release their new album "Disco nights" a year later in 1979, album which will remain as their best classified of all and which will especially produce their reference title namely the enormous "Disco nights (Rock-Freak )".
We find them at the very beginning of the 80s with the new album "Two", an album which confirms the excellent state of health of the group, in particular thanks to the success of the title "Standing ovation".
New album "Face to face" the following year in 1981, an album with success this time at least relative and which will struggle to produce the slightest Single of planetary class.
A poor performance from which the group will not recover...

1981... they will pull themselves together but without succeeding in getting back into the race in a consistent way. But nothing is lost at this point...
1982... it is on this last fine title that the group will achieve its last major success. To be enjoyed without moderation...
1982...that won't mean the end of the adventure, but what will follow behind will go unnoticed to say the least. Such is life...
1984...a last title to close an adventure which will have nevertheless allowed them to leave a mark in the not insignificant contemporary musical history. It's already that...
