Love’s sweet sensation...

Linda Clifford is an American singer who starts her artistic career not as a singer but as Miss New York !

We then find her in supporting roles in the cinema, cinema that she will quickly leave in favor of music. This is how she was later found in a jazz group called 'The Jericho Jazz Singers', with which she performed for a year in Miami nightclubs.

It was in 1973 that things took a turn for the worse with the signing to Paramount Records and the successful release of the single "(It’s gonna be) A long long winter".

Change of label in the mid-1970s and move to Curtom Records, a label that enabled her to release her first album “Linda” in 1977. Album with mixed success but which nevertheless produced two high-caliber singles with the titles "From now on" and "You can do it".

It is a year later in 1978 that the takeoff, the real one, will take place with the release of the album "If my friends could see me now", album which will make a huge success and propel the young singer on the front of the stage in a shattering way. In particular thanks to the singles "Runaway love" and "If my friends could see me now".

Global success confirmed a year later in 1979 with the release of the album "Let me be your woman". Album which will give her her biggest single success with the enormous "Bridge over trouble water".

Single which will be her last planetary single because everything that will come out subsequently, albums as singles, will only experience a mixed level of success ...

Clips :

1972 ... beginnings to say the least confidential. It takes a start to everything as they say and the main thing is above all to start the machine. It is now done with this title ...

1974 ... the real starting point, at least on the Charts side. Here she won her first classified title and therefore has every reason to hope for the future, that's clear ...

1974 ... this title will go much more unnoticed but let's give her time to take its marks. We must not confuse speed and haste ...

1977 ... she will have to wait 3 more years to return to the front of the stage thanks to this title. Of course, success will be limited to R&B Charts but it's always better than nothing as they say ...

1978 ... the BIG year ! After having gleaned a few small successes, she finally goes up a gear with this title. So much so that she obtained her first planetary top hit here and finally saw her career take off in a notorious way !

1978 ... she continues with a second title of the same caliber and confirms the fact that she has indeed decided to stop playing supporting roles. All thanks to this revisited version of a title present in the musical 'Sweet charity' dating from 1966 ...

1979 ... in the series of revisited versions, here she revisits us in a totally improbable way the flagship title of Simon & Garfunkel dating from 1970. A crazy bet to make this title a Dance version and yet, it will work since she obtains the biggest success of her entire career here, just that. HU-GE !

1979 ... we go from one extreme to another tempo side with this title all in finesse and lightness. The title is undeniably of quality but it will not really know the same level of success as the previous title, that's clear ...

1979 ... a plethora of years in 1979 in terms of titles and which will undoubtedly remain as one of its best vintages. All good as they say !

1980 ... she sets the scene again in a shocking but above all charming duo mode with this new light and airy title. And once again, it works !

1980 ... the rest will be much more Dance. A title that we will find on the soundtrack of a little film called...'Fame', a little movie that will quickly become cult !

1980 ... a year 1980 which paradoxically will be her last at the highest level. What follows will prove to be much more complicated to manage than expected with a fall for the less severe in terms of success in the Charts ...

1982 ... she will continue to ensure the minimum but its withdrawal from the leading peloton will henceforth be irreversible. Even if she will try to reverse the trend by putting the best possible will, nothing will ...

1982 ... and yet she is far from being ridiculous. But the competition is so bloated at the level of Dance that to stay at the highest level is an outright feat. Something she will not be able to achieve ...

1984 ... anyway, she continues to believe in it and intends not to let go until the end. A desire to move forward at all costs that undeniably commands respect ...

1984 ... she now does more some figuration than anything else but she does not have to be ashamed of what she continues to deliver, far from it. We take, we take !

1985 ... the sound and the style are however trends but it is especially the melodic inspiration which is too average to let her hope for a hypothetical return to the front of the race. Hard law of the trade ...

1985 ... nothing is going right in this year 1985 and the tumble continues without anything, nor nobody, being able to stop it. Attention danger...

1995 ... she will purely and simply disappear from the radars for almost 10 years before suddenly rising to the surface in this year 1995. A comeback which is not going to be really successful, it is the least that we can to say...

1999 ... new 4 years air gap and here she is reborn once again from its ashes thanks to this title. A title that will at least allow her to exist a little bit in the Charts Dance in the USA ...

2001 ... when we think back to her first title dating from 1972 compared to this title from 2001, we really have to wonder if it is the same singer. And yet, it is the same !

2001 ... paradoxically, it is the young generation who will bring her up to date, who could have imagined it ? But in life, it's all about adaptation as they say ...

2001 ... three big caliber titles just for this year 2001 when we thought she was lost body and soul, no one would have dared to imagine it. And yet she did !

2002 ... she even dares to attack the title of Lamont Dozier dating from 1977 to make an Ultra Dance version of it. And my faith the result is not so ridiculous, it is clear ...

2002 ... and it continues with this new title and we really wonder how far she will be able to go. On the other hand, as long as she is offered projects, she would be wrong to refuse !

2003 ... each title where she will have appeared during this decade of 2000 frankly holds the road and we can only salute the performance. For how long, that's another question ...

2008 ... then nothing for 5 years. We thought that the case was definitively folded but it was bad to know her again, the proof !

2011 ... with her, nothing is ever over. She will have crossed the decade of the 70s, then the 80s, then the 90s, then the 2000s and here she begins the 2010 decade. When will the next title be ?
