Lipstick on your collar...

The Saints is an Australian band formed in Brisbane in 1973 and originally consisting of Chris Bailey, Ivor Hay and Ed Kuepper.

Group which self-produced 3 years later in 1976 two first titles named “I’m stranded” and “No time”, self-production which will allow them to start to make a name for themselves, at least in their native land.

A start of visibility which allowed them to sign with the EMI label, the label with which they released their first album “I’m stranded” a year later in 1977. Album which unfortunately went somewhat unnoticed…

The same year they decided to move to England, a move which would benefit them since the Single “This perfect day” which they produced there would allow them to finally move from the shadows to the light in a notable way.

New album “Eternally yours” the following year in 1978, an album which allowed them to achieve their first major success this time in Australia. Album which paradoxically will not produce a hit worthy of the name...

A second album “Prehistoric Sounds” will be released the same year, an album which will be far from experiencing as favorable a destiny as its predecessor…

Three years would pass before the release in 1981 of the album “Prehistoric Sounds”, an album which would allow them to somewhat return to the race. But once again without succeeding in producing a successful Single…

New poor performance on the albums side with the failed release of “Casablanca” in 1982 but also of “A little madness to be free” in 1984.

They will have to wait until 1986 and the release of “All Fools Day” to finally regain color, notably thanks to the high-calibre Single “Just like fire would”.

A success that they managed to reissue two years later in 1988 with the release of the album “Prodigal son”, an album which allowed them to achieve two first successes in the United States with the titles “Grain of sand” and “The music goes 'round my head.

Major successes which will be the last because everything that comes out subsequently will only experience a very limited level of success.

Tracks :

1976...totally supercharged debuts which nevertheless allowed them to score their first hit. Certainly limited exclusively to Australia but still...

1977...a group that is not lacy to say the least. It must be said that this end of the 70s, musically speaking, encourages this kind of excess...

1977...suddenly their fame will even go beyond their borders with this title. Here they achieved their first success in England, which was unexpected to say the least...

1977...a revisited version of Connie Francis' title from 1959 which goes even faster than the original. Yes Yes, it's possible...

1978...after a successful start to their career to say the least, the group found it increasingly difficult to maintain the level of success he had previously achieved...

1978...so he said to himself that it might be worth slowing down the tempo a little. This is a good feeling but it won't change anything for the moment...

1980...they attack the new 80s with the firm intention of normalizing themselves somewhat. As a result, early fans no longer find their way there...

1981...their position suddenly becomes uncomfortable to say the least because their basic audience no longer follows them and they are unable to attract a new one. Cruel paradox...

1982...a sluggish start to the 1980s where they were unable to catch up with the leading pack despite all their efforts. Hard law of the trade...

1984...they will have to wait until the middle of the decade to finally return to success. So in music you should never give up because everything remains possible...

1984...the relapse will be violent to say the least, despite all their efforts. It's hard to understand but it is indeed the case...

1984...that doesn't discourage them in any way. And it could be that the future proves them right about hanging on at all costs...

1986...a second part of the 80s which will see them return to the race in an unexpected way to say the least. Like what...

1986...of course the return to grace will only take place in Australia but it's still better than nothing. They will be more than happy with it in any case...

1986...this title will be the only one of the year 1986 not to be classified but nothing worrying at this stage. Especially when we see what's on the horizon...

1988...after an empty year in 1987, here they are back in this year of 1988 in certain form. So certain that they will achieve their biggest Singles successes during this year 1988...

1988...this one will not really experience the same level of success but it doesn't matter, the group is indeed back on the front of the stage...

1988...a very favorable end to the decade which finally allowed them to be recognized as living up to their expectations. It was time...

1996...unfortunately the rest will prove to be significantly less favorable. We will lose sight of them for almost 8 years and their return will go somewhat unnoticed, to say the least...

1998...this does not discourage them at first glance since they will return once again at the very end of the 90s...

1998...a new comeback which will hardly be more visible than the previous one for the general public. Nice try though...

2000...they will even try to move on to the next decade. But we're not going to lie, the best years are now behind them...

2000...after as long as they continue to enjoy what they do, why throw in the towel prematurely...

2005...they decided not to give up in any case and it doesn't matter whether there is success or not. They will come back no matter what at least once in every decade...

2005...it starts with a good feeling and can only delight the fans from the very beginning who are inevitably asking for more...

2006...a decade of the 2000s which saw them produce 3 albums which is no small thing. The only criticism we can make of them is that they will not dare to question themselves more than that...

2006...because the musical world has evolved considerably around them and they have remained, to say the least, fixed on their fundamentals...

2012...new gap of 6 years but here they are again whatever happens. On the other hand, it could be that this time this return is indeed the last...

2012...we will therefore make the most of this possible last opus. But as we know in music, everything is always possible...

2012...will this title be the last ? Only the future can answer this question and we will therefore have to be patient as they say...
