Juicy fruit...

Few interesting information about Mtume except the fact that it is an American group originally composed of James Mtume, Reggie Lucas, Philipp Field and Tawatha Agee.

A group that will remain mainly in the musical history of this end of the 20th century for the high-caliber single "Juicy fruit" which will be released in 1983.

For this reason alone, we had to devote this article to them.

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1978...first title and already first success. Certainly only in the R&B Charts but it's already better than nothing as they say...

1978... too bad they can't confirm in the process this successful start, to say the least. It also shows that there is still work to be done to reach the highest level...

1980...the group asked himself the right questions at first sight and the efforts made finally allowed them to get back in the pack at the very beginning of the 80s. With the key to a winning return to the Charts...

1980...a year 1980 which saw them return to racing in an impressive way. Obviously a good omen for the rest of the events...

1981... the rise in power is linear and will inevitably end up producing something great. It's just a matter of time...

1983...then comes THIS title. The title of consecration after which the group has been running since its inception and which therefore offers them a direct ticket to posterity. HU-GE !

1983 ... impossible for this title to compete with its predecessor, from there to achieve such a low score in the Charts is surprising to say the least. Sometimes you don't have to try to understand...

1984...despite all their efforts, they will never again be able to equal the feat achieved on 'Juicy fruit'. The rest will be a little more complicated to manage than expected...

1984...while we had known them mainly in the Dance register, they give us here a very fine title of the most successful. Succeeded to the point of offering them their 2nd biggest success...

1984...a year placed definitely under the sign of the 'emotional' register. This title will go much more unnoticed than its predecessor unfortunately...

1985...as for this one, it will go completely unnoticed. Times are getting harder and harder for the group and they will have to pull themselves together and quickly...

1985 ... this title will only find its salvation among the great Bretons. It's always better than nothing you will tell me given the general context...

1986 ... the group will not go further than this year 1986. After a career start with fanfare, it will not have been able to find the right rhythm and above all to keep its level of inspiration constant ...

1986... they will still manage to appear in the R&B charts throughout this year 1986 but that will not prevent them from disappearing slowly but surely...

1986... the last title of a short-lived career. Ephemeral but which will still have allowed them to produce a title of very high caliber and just for that, respect...
