Eddy Grant, whose real name is Edmond Grant, is an English singer of Guyanese origin who began his artistic career with The Equals. Group with which he had a first notable success in 1968 with the title “Baby come back”.
It was only 12 years later that he would experience his first solo success with the enormous "Do you feel my love", a Single which was released in 1980 and which literally exploded its notoriety on the international scene. Single from the album "Can’t get enough" which was released a year later in 1981.
But the real consecration came a year later in 1982 with the release of the album "Killer on the rampage". Album that is a real worldwide hit and from which will be extracted the two biggest hits of his career, namely "I don’t wanna dance" but also and above all "Electric avenue". Title that will sell over a million copies !
Two years passed before the release in 1984 of the less successful album "Going for Broke", from which a Single hit "Romancing the Stone" was extracted.
The album "Born Tuff" which came out in 1986 goes completely unnoticed ...!
Back in force in 1988 with the album "File under rock" which will allow the artist to record a last top hit with the Single "Gimme hope Jo'anna", resolutely anti-apartheid title. And that will be his last notable success.

Tracks :
1979 ... first title and...first success. We could not ask for a better start at this stage. It only remains to unroll ...
1979...unfortunately the young singer will not be able to take advantage of the enormous suction effect generated by the previous title. Too bad because it all started pretty well...
1980...this one won't do much better. After a most encouraging departure, the artist is on the spot for the less worrying...
1980 ... then THIS title comes ! Surely one of the most famous reggae songs of the decade. The title is a real worldwide hit and propels the artist to the top of fame at the speed of light ! HU-GE !
1981 ... he immediately confirms that the previous mega title was anything but an accident. A career that starts off with a bang and that still has some great surprises in store for us !
1981...small drop in speed on this title but no worries about it for the moment. Especially given what's on the horizon...
1981...a title that deserved to be highlighted but which will unfortunately remain in the shadows when it had all the qualities to get noticed...
1982 ... a single-title year, but what a title ! He connects the mega planetary hits at an incredible speed. What an inspiration !
1983 ... he achieved supreme consecration with THIS title ! A title which makes him definitively return to the musical legend of the 80s. A well-deserved consecration !
1983 ... we continue in stride. Even if this title will not be able to compete on the success side with its predecessor, success is once again at the rendezvous...
1983 ... a BIG 1983 with a plethora of hits. It will also be his best Cru. Constantly renewed inspiration that produces premium quality...
1984 ... the years go by but are not necessarily alike. After an exceptional 1983 year, 1984 is a poor year. Only one major title but big caliber, that's already it !
1984...a title that will pass somewhat 'through' as they say. A year 1984 really below the years that preceded it, it is clear...
1985... nothing is going well on the planet Grant. His revisited version of the Equals title dating from 1967 does not lack interest but will not bring much more than the original...
1986... the titles follow one another and now suffer the same fate, namely a most obvious lack of success. And yet he puts an obvious good will into it, but unfortunately this is no longer enough...
1988...a big air hole that will have lasted almost 4 years. But it is to bounce back better in this year 1988 with this title which will undoubtedly remain as one of his most successful. MAS-TER-FUL !
1988 ... the last notorious hit. A career in the end of which he can be proud and which will have left some pretty nuggets in the musical history of the 80s !
1988 ... last notorious hit but surely not the end of the adventure. Certainly the best years are now behind him but that does not disturb him at first sight...
1990... he continues to believe in it and thinks that it might be worth pushing on until the following decade. Who would blame him...
1992...it's clear that he's going to play second fiddle now more than anything else, but it's at least the basic fans who are delighted to see him continue to believe in it against all odds...
1992...an adventure that has already lasted for more than 10 years and which sees him maintain a sufficient level of quality to hope to return perhaps one day in the race...
1994... here he is in Soca Dance mode and my faith he is far from being ridiculous. Certainly he will not produce any major title in this register but he will have at least tried...
1994 ... he will still release 3 albums during this decade 90 which is not nothing. And which shows above all that he has lost none of his enthusiasm of yesteryear...
1999 ... we find him 5 years later in a form that we will qualify as certain. Certain but insufficient to bring him back to the front of the stage anyway...
1999... with each title we say to ourselves that it will be the last but each time he comes back and surprises us by the quality of the titles that he still manages to produce. Hope it lasts...
2005... new 6 years air hole and here he is in the 2000s, another decade to add to his career. A career that lasts, that lasts, that lasts...
2005...the goodwill he puts into each title is a pleasure to see anyway. For him, music necessarily rhymes with rhythm and enthusiasm...
2017...this time it's 12 years that will separate this title from the previous one. But he returns once again, a desire to believe in it until the end which commands respect incontestably...
2017...he will continue as long as his strength allows him, which is often the case in music. When you have music in your skin, it's for life as they say...
2017...will this title be the last ? As with him nothing is ever finished, it may well be that we find him later. Only him knows the answer anyway...
