Carol Douglas is an American singer who stands out from an early age, not by singing, but by participating, and especially by winning at the age of 10 the game show 'Name that tune' (game show that puts two competitors to test their knowledge of the songs).
She really started her artistic career with April May & June while she was still in high school and even recorded a first track "I don’t mind (Being your fool)" in 1963 under the name Carolyn Cooke. Unfortunately, she fell pregnant with her first child when she was only 15 years old, a stroke of fate that would put an end to her start of ascent.
She will have to wait almost 10 years before being able to return to the front of the stage thanks to the single "Doctor's Orders" which she recorded in 1974 following an audition. Audition organized by the label Midland International Records which then seeks a singer to make an American version of the song originally sung by the English Sunny.
The singer's revisited version is a real success and becomes a huge global hit that year, thereby launching the singer's career on the international stage in a sensational way.
Planetary success of short duration because all the singles which will be released thereafter will meet only limited success in the United States, whether it is during the period of the 70s or that of the 80s. But better is a limited success than no success at all as they say ...

Clips :
1974 ... first title and first global mega hit ! She signs here quite simply the biggest success of all her recording career and offers herself a direct ticket for posterity. A startling to say the least. MAS-TER-FUL !
1975 ... a sequel that cannot compete as the bar has been raised, despite an obvious quality. As a general rule, you start small and end with cleats. There, it will be the reverse ...
1975 ... this title will go squarely under the radar. In a few months, she will have gone from the top of the mountain to the depths of the valley. A fall for the less dizzying ...
1976 ... she goes up the slope slowly but surely but she will never really stick to the leading pack. Too bad because she had everything she needed to do great things ...
1977 ... you had to dare ! Taking over one of ABBA's flagship titles from the previous year was surely not a won bet. And my faith, the copy is not that bad ...
1977 ... a good job every time but there is nothing to do, the singer can not find the path to frank and massive success. And yet it is not for lack of trying ...
1978 ... what she continues to offer is far from irrelevant, that's clear. Trendy sound, just like style. But the competition is tough. Too tough ...
1978 ... a year 1978 which saw no improvement on the Charts side. Whatever she does, whatever she proposes, the result is always the same unfortunately ...
1979 ... she continues to believe in it and continues the adventure for whatever reason. Her persevering side commands respect, it's clear
1981 ... we no longer believed in it and yet ... Here she is back at the start of the 1980s in dazzling form, a winning comeback that sees her deliver an excellent Dance track which will undoubtedly remain as one of her best titles. HU-GE !
1982 ... the adventure will not go further but whatever the case, she does not have to be ashamed of its discography. An exit through the main door as they say !
