For America...

Red Box is an English band formed in 1983 and originally made up of Simon Toulson-Clarke, Julian Close, Paddy Talbot, Rob Legge and Martin Nickson. Group known in its very beginnings under the name of 'Harlequins' before taking its final name of 'Red Box', 'Red...' which symbolizes in the eyes of the group their militant commitment...

Group which releases a first title "Chenko" the year of its formation, first title which will know a nice success of esteem and which will allow them to sign with the Sire label.

A signature which will be followed by an implosion of the group which will end in a simple duo with Toulson-Clarke and Close. Duo who also changed labels to sign with WEA, a label with which they released their new title "Saskatchewan" in 1984, a title that would go somewhat unnoticed...

They will have to wait another year and the year 1985 to finally see their efforts rewarded with the release of the title "Lean on me (Ah-Li-Ayo)", title which will offer them their first major success. A success partly due to the clip of the song in which we see a sign language interpreter translating the lyrics of the song…

The semblance of consecration meanwhile comes the following year in 1986 with the release of the album "The circle & the square", album from which will be extracted their biggest success on the Singles side with the enormous title "For America".

A notorious success which will be the one and only because everything that will come out afterwards will only know a level of success that is all in all relative...

1984...from the beginning we feel that this group has everything it takes to do great things. All he has to do is prove it to us...

1985...it didn't take long for them to prove it to us. They will get here a first major success which will launch them on the international scene in an ideal way...

1986...which will stay as their highest ranked title of all. In just 3 years the group will have achieved a semblance of consecration which will have allowed them to inscribe their name in the musical Pantheon of this end of the 20th century...

1987...this title will not remain as their best ranked but will surely remain as one of their most successful. Excellent work anyway !

1987...the first version of this title will be released in 1983 but will have passed somewhat under the radar. This one on the other hand will know a little more the favors of the public...

1990...now remains to be seen whether they will succeed in maintaining themselves at the highest level in this new decade of the 90s. Only them can answer this question...

1990...unfortunately, the group will disappear from the Charts in a brutal way and will never be able to return...

1990...and yet what they continue to offer is far from deserving, that's clear. But competition is such at the beginning of the 90s that existing at the highest level is an almost permanent feat...

2010...we thought we would never see them again but it was very bad to know them. Here they are back almost 20 years later...

2010... it is inevitably the fans of the first hour who are delighted at the highest point of this return, which is unexpected to say the least...

2010...especially since they come back with titles of more than certain quality and which show above all that they had not yet said everything, or at least sung everything the last time...

2010...they decide to revisit here the masterpiece of the Korgis dating from 1980, an extremely daring bet to say the least. Even if the copy will not surpass the original, it is far from devoid of interest, that's clear...

2011...a pity that their return went somewhat unnoticed because they are not coming back for nothing as they say. There is quality in all of this !

2012...surprising that they didn't come back before, but sometimes you shouldn't try to understand. Everyone leads his career as he sees fit and above all at his own speed...

2019...we're going to lose sight of them again but here they are back at the very end of the 2010 decade with the firm intention of proving that they still exist !

2019...we can only rejoice once again that they decided not to throw in the towel definitively because it would have been a shame if they disappeared for good...

2019...especially since more and more bands like them from the 80s are coming back to the fore so why not them...

2019...they just have to find the right musical recipe between their old influences from the 80s and the new trends of the moment...

2020...but nothing is impossible as they say. You just have to soak up the latest influences of the younger generations and add your know-how from yesteryear...
