Childhood buddies ...

Wham! is an English group created in 1981 in Bushey by 2 childhood friends who are George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. They first formed the group "The Executive" before forming Wham!. The adventure will last 4 years and really starts in 1982 with the release of their first Single "Young guns (go for it)" which immediately reaches the top of the hits, carried by the image of a group which must reflect the side rebellious teens they are supposed to be embodied. 1983 saw the release of the hit Singles "Bad boys" and "Club tropicana" which also pranced at the top of the Charts. In 1984, Ridgeley decided to change the brand image to make it a much more avant-garde pop-oriented group. Transition year which sees the release of the planetary hit "Wake me up before you go-go" which becomes Wham's first Single ! number 1 in the Charts. Shortly followed by the now cult “Careless Whisper” sung by a George Michael solo but co-written with Ridgeley. Single which also rose to number 1 in Charts in many countries. Also in the same year, the Single "Freedom" was released, followed closely by the album "Make it big". The year ended in apotheosis with the excellent "Last Christmas" whose sales exploded. The Single "Everything she wants" was released in 1985 and directly ranked number 1 in the United States. The same year, the group allowed itself the luxury of being the first Western group to perform in China. In 1986, aged 22, the 2 friends, tired of 4 years of intense media solicitations, decided to ease off to focus on their private lives. What will sound the death knell for the adventure which will end in apotheosis with their last major Single namely "The edge of heaven". To discover or rediscover...

1983 ... after a first version released the previous year and gone completely unnoticed, the 2 guys put the cover back and this time, it works from the fire of god. Like what !

1983 ... the tube machine is now launched and a flood of hits will follow. What am I saying, mega hits ! HU-GE !

1983 ... second year of existence and the duo is already one of the biggest phenomena of the moment. A truly astounding ascent !

1984 ... the transcosmic hit that will smash everything in its path and make them definitely enter the musical legend of the 80s. The year 1983 was exceptional, the year 1984 will be downright incredible with a number of mega rarely seen hits for the time. MAS-TER-FUL !

1984 ... the WONDER of WONDERS ! What will surely remain as one of the 10 biggest Ultimate Slows of this end of the XXth century. How many couples have known each other on this music ... thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands ...? MO-NU-MEN-TAL !
