Always in the moon...

“Moon” Martin, born John Martin, was an American singer-songwriter of Rockabilly influences who will remain mainly in the musical history of the 80s for his flagship title “Bad news” released in 1980. Huge title which will be one of the most big hits of that year.

Two other titles of his composition, but written for others, will also have marked history : "Bad case of loving you (Doctor, doctor)" for Robert Palmer and “Cadillac walk” for Willy DeVille.

His nickname “Moon” mainly comes from the fact that most of his songs contain the word Moon in the lyrics.

Artist who will leave us definitively on May 13, 2020, when he will die of natural causes according to his entourage.

Tracks :

1978 ... a first 100 % rock title that spins at 200 km/h. And paradoxically, it is not its author who will make it a success. But a certain Robert Palmer whose cover will prove to be better than the original !

1978 ... success is desired despite titles of certain quality. He will therefore have to be patient ...

1979 ... a year that started off smoothly. A most astonishing rhythmic alternation that contrasts radically with the previous year ...

1979 ... back to basics, we suspected that this gentle break was just an interlude. A rock style that still does not manage to make the difference unfortunately ...

1979 ... a new Intimist parenthesis, limited to Country ballad version. Decidedly, 1979 is a year of transformation, even of mutation ...

1980 ... a new vintage which is restarting once again on rock bases. There is talent, that's clear. But it lacks that touch of genius that can change everything ...

1980 ... then comes THE title that will change everything. Thanks to an inspiration this time around that will make all the difference. Here he signs one of the biggest titles of the year and of the decade. MAS-TER-FUL !

1982 ... it will take at least a full year for him to recover from his emotions. We therefore only saw him reappear in 1982. A comeback in great shape which enabled him to sign a title which perfectly suited the times !

1982 ... the year 1982 will alternate good and a little less good. This title will rather be part of the 2nd category ...

1985 ... the rest will prove to be more complicated to manage than expected. The album that comes out that year will not allow the artist to return to success in a lasting way. And those who will come out during the 1990s will not do better ...

1992...we find him in this new decade 1990 in a form that we will qualify as certain. Certain but insufficient to return to the race...

1992...we're not going to lie to each other, the best years are now behind him. This will not prevent him from continuing the adventure in his own way and regardless of the success achieved - or not - by the titles...

1992...even if he never won another major hit, what he continues to offer is far from devoid of interest. Anyway, we'll be happy...

1999...we will find him one last time at the very end of the 90s. A little more than 20 years after his debut, the circle seems to be almost definitively closed...

1999...three decades of career ended here. A career that will still have allowed him to produce one of the most significant titles of the end of the 20th century...
