The Greg Kihn Band is an American band formed in 1976 and originally composed of Greg Kihn, Robbie Dunbar, Steve Wright and Larry Lynch. The adventure begins when Greg Kihn wins a radio hookup hosted by WCAO Radio at the age of 17. He won in particular a Vox electric guitar, which will forever change the course of his life.
He arrived in California in the early 1970s and started singing in the streets. And it was not until 1976 that he formed the group and recorded a first album thanks to the Beserkley Records label.
The beginnings were quite laborious and despite the release of 5 successive albums in the late 1970s, none managed to produce any major hits. They will have to wait until the year 1981 and the release of the album "Rockihnroll" for the group to finally be rewarded for their efforts. Notably thanks to the flagship Single "The breakup song (They don’t write‘ Em)". But for now, success is limited to the North American continent.
The album "Kihntinued" which came out a year later in 1982 could not do better. On the other hand, the album "Kihnspiracy" which came out in 1983 was not going to meet the same fate at all. And for good reason ! The album will be an incredible success thanks to the enormous Single “Jeopardy”, a flagship single which will set fire to all the Dancefloor on the planet this year and will undoubtedly remain as one of the most emblematic titles of the decade.
The group will unfortunately be unable to capitalize on the huge wave of success generated by the album. The 1984 album "Kihntagious" saw the group fall back into the depths of the Charts. Only the album "Citizen Kihn" which will be released in 1985 will allow the group to save the furniture with the Single "Lucky", Single which will be their last notorious hit.

Tracks :
1976...a confidential beginning, to say the least, which immediately shows that there is still a little work to be done before being able to compete with the competition...
1976...afterwards the basics are still good so there is room to do something as they say. Let's give it time...
1976...a career is built over the long term and there is therefore no reason to worry more than that. We have to start well one day...
1977...a new opus which still does not see any major improvements either in style or in sound which could allow them to pass the level on which they are stumbling for the moment...
1977...anyway, each new title released allows them to see what works and especially what doesn't work...
1977...the only big problem is that no title has been released yet. Which doesn't stop them from starting to make a minimum of talk about themselves, that's already it...
1978...here is finally the first title to be officially released. It's still hard to imagine at this stage that it's the same group that will deliver one of the biggest dance hits of the 80s a few years later. And yet...
1978...because for the moment they don't play at all in the Pure and Hard Dance section. In any case, the rise in power is confirmed year after year...
1978...the quality of the titles is constantly evolving, as is the level of inspiration. Obviously a good omen for the future of events...
1979...a new opus which will only be talked about in the Album Charts because on the Singles side none will be officially released...
1979...a transitional album which must make the group wonder about the conduct to follow in the years to come, it is clear...
1980...same for this one. There is quality in everything he produces, we are not going to deny it. But they still haven't managed to produce THE title that could make all the difference...
1980...they will therefore have to change their fundamentals, otherwise the exit door risks opening faster than expected...
1981...they will finally ask themselves the right questions from this new opus. A reorientation that will pay off in a notable way in the Charts...
1981...this new album is a real success and will produce several successful Singles too. Of course we are not talking about huge successes but all the same...
1981 ... a rock orientation which for the moment predominates. There is quality, it is undeniable. But that is not enough to propel them to the heights of the Charts. Let's be patient, it's going to happen one day ...
1982 ... little or no change in this new year. The group is maintaining a fairly average level of success for the moment. However, they have the potential to do much better ...
1982...a year 1982 which still allows them to confirm their status as a sure bet of the moment which is already not bad...
1982...they have reached a level of maturity which will inevitably end up paying off significantly. It's just a matter of time...
1983...then comes THIS title. We see an obvious metamorphosis between what they offer today and what they offered until then. And the result is clear : here they quite simply deliver one of the biggest Dance hits of the decade and the biggest success of their entire discography. MAS-TER-FUL !
1983 ... a sequel that has nothing to do with the previous title, that's clear. Suddenly, the group immediately plunges into the depths of the Charts. A big mess ...
1983...they will have succeeded in making 'a big shot' as they say but they will never be able to repeat the feat afterwards unfortunately...
1984 ... chase the natural, it comes back at a gallop. The group returned to their rock roots and lost a large part of their audience by the way. A musical reorientation on their part very surprising and above all totally counterproductive ...
1984 ... in the same vein. With a slight improvement, but nothing will change the situation unfortunately. The group will never stick to the leading pack again ...
1984...really too bad they didn't know how to ride the huge wave triggered by 'Jeopardy'. Hard law of the trade...
1985 ... a dazzling return of inspiration which will not last but which allows them to obtain a last major hit. Like what, not much was enough ...
1985...a sequel which will go much more unnoticed but which clearly shows that the group still has obvious resources to continue the adventure...
1985...titles which will not be officially released but which it would have been a shame to hide. So here they are brought back to light...
1985...a well-deserved spotlight given the certain quality of this opus. There is some real talent in this group...
1986...a year 1986 which will be their last at the high level. But that absolutely does not mean that the group will disappear, no, no...
1986...the adventure will continue thereafter but on a much more confidential level. After all, as long as they enjoy doing what they do, why throw in the towel prematurely...
1986...especially since quality is still essential so there will always be a base of basic fans to follow them whatever happens...
1986...it's really hard to understand why they simply disappeared from the Charts. Sometimes you shouldn't try to understand...
1992...then not much for almost 6 years. But here they are again anyway at the very beginning of the 90s...
1992...a return which will unfortunately go unnoticed to say the least. These 6 years of absence really won't have helped, that's for sure...
1992...afterwards we can't blame them for continuing to believe in it because we know well, in music everything is always possible...
1994...a mid-90s which saw them really struggling, despite the release of new opuses. When it no longer wants, it no longer wants...
1994... it's up to the group to now see if it's worth continuing and if so how to succeed in significantly reversing the trend...
1996...they don't give up and continue to hope for a possible miracle. Hope gives life but you also have to know how to sometimes make radical decisions...
2000...radical decisions that they will unfortunately not be able to make. So the adventure really comes to an end this time...
2017...we never thought we'd see them again and here they are back in an unexpected way, to say the least, to the delight of their core fans...
2017...too long an absence which will once again make this return a non-event. This is what we call a doom and gloom...
2017...frankly a shame because this new opus is not without interest, that's clear. Then they will at least have shown that they still exist...
2017...so last title or not ? Only them can answer the question, but if they plan to come back, their return will have to be a little more 'visible'...
