Joni Mitchell, whose real name is Roberta Mitchell, is a Canadian-American singer who really began her artistic career in 1968 with the release of a first album called “Song to a Seagull”. Album which will bring her a nice success of esteem even if it will not be able to produce a hit worthy of the name.
Success confirmed and amplified the following year with the release in 1969 of the album “Clouds”, a success which now spread throughout the North American sphere.
The big takeoff took place in 1970 with the release of the album “Ladies of the canyon”, an album which gave the artist her first global success, notably thanks to the enormous Single “Big yellow taxi”.
The album “Blue” which was released in 1971 was going to do even stronger than its predecessor in the Charts without being able to produce the slightest Single of global class, paradoxically…
At the rate of one album per year it was the turn of the album “For the roses” to be released in 1972, an album with less success but which on the other hand succeeded in producing the enormous Single “You turn me on, I 'm a radio'.
The great adventure continued in 1974 with the release of the album “Court and spark”, a huge album which notably produced the flagship Single “Help me”.
A mid-70s which will be the high point of his career because the numerous albums and Singles which will be released in the following decades will not succeed in reaching the same level of success as their predecessors...

1968...a first title to launch the career of young Roberta. A career that will reach heights she can't even imagine...
1969...for the big takeoff it will not be for this year 1969 either but we are slowly but surely getting closer...
1970...this year 1970 will be the good one. Here she will achieve quite simply the biggest success of her entire career and enter the musical history of the end of the 20th century in a way that is, to say the least, resounding. HU-GE !
1971...the start of the 70s which saw her become one of the phenomena of the moment and in an undeniable way. Let's hope it lasts...
1971...unfortunately it will not be the jackpot on each title. The proof with this title which will go somewhat under the radar...
1972...on the other hand this one will not go unnoticed far from it. In just 2 years she will have won twice with more than obvious ease...
1973...this one will not really experience the same most favorable destiny as its predecessor experienced. There is Jean who laughs and Jean who cries...
1973...business picks up directly behind with this new title. So there's nothing to worry about at this stage...
1974...here comes the highest ranked title to date in both Canada and the United States. But who will not be able to extend her fame beyond...
1974...a beautiful and BIG year 1974 with a succession of major hits. Everything smiles on the singer in the best way...
1976...we will lose sight of her during the year 1975 and here she is back in this year 1976 in a form that we will describe as certain. More than enough to stay in the race in any case...
1977...as much as the first part of the decade will have been favorable to her, the second will not be. An unexpected turn of events to say the least...
1978...a year 1978 which will see her disappear from the Charts in an incomprehensible way to say the least and yet this will indeed be the case...
1978...it must be said that the musical world has evolved considerably around her, something that she somewhat underestimated at first glance...
1979...fortunately the albums continue to do well because on the Singles side nothing is going well. Attention danger...
1980...she will manage to get back into the race a little thanks to this revisited version of Frankie Lymon's title dating from 1956. But only just...
1982...new luxury cover two years later this time on the Elvis Presley title dating from 1957. Successful covers which allow her to continue to exist at a minimum...
1983...the singer really struggles to find her place in this constantly moving musical world. However, it will be necessary otherwise the exit door risks getting closer faster than expected...
1985...it took her a while to do it but it's done. And as luck would have it, success on the Singles side is back and not just a little...
1986...well it won't work every time but the main thing is that she has finally taken stock of the world around her. The essential is therefore preserved...
1988...she moves forward quietly in her own way during this 80s decade and without taking too much into account the competition which is light years ahead...
1988...as long as the albums continue to work she tells herself that the fans from the first hour are still there and that is enough for her to continue to believe in it...
1988...and in principle she is absolutely right. The main thing is to take pleasure in what she does and give pleasure to those who have followed her since the beginning quite simply...
1991...here she is quietly attacking the 90s with the firm intention of not giving up. A desire to believe in it always and again which undoubtedly commands respect...
1991...especially since she still manages to score a few hits here and there which can only encourage her to continue as far as possible...
1994...here she revisits James Brown's title dating from 1987 and her copy is far from unworthy, that's clear. Good job...
1994...we must still remember that she began her career in 1968, which is no small thing ! Nearly 25 years of career and a prize list that is flattering to say the least as a result...
1994...here she finds her original fundamentals and gives us a title full of finesse and lightness. Even if this title will go somewhat unnoticed, we cannot deny its certain quality...
1998...a mixed end to the decade which saw her gain more and more in the Charts and this time also on the albums side. Times are getting harder and harder for the singer...
2000...here she brings out a title dating from the year 1969 and will succeed in having it classified which underlines a performance that is impressive to say the least...
2000...here she revisits a Glenn Miller title dating from 1942 and we cannot say that her luxury cover is not devoid of interest, that's clear...
2000...she revisits herself with this title dating from 1971. A succession of titles that literally float in the air and that simply feel good...
2002...and she does it again on the title side with finesse and lightness 2 years later with this new opus. Totally opposed to the latest musical trends of the moment but who would blame her...
2002...she will always have led her career in her own way and certainly not the way others wanted her to lead it. A true privilege...
2002...afterwards there is necessarily a price to pay in these cases because freedom is expensive. Something that doesn't bother her that much at first glance...
2007...nearly 40 years of career and still faithful to the position ! Exceptional longevity for one of the most gifted artists of her generation...
2007...not sure it will last for decades and decades but what is taken is no longer to be taken. That's what she tells herself every day...
2021...the re-release 50 years later of this title from his album 'Blue' dating from 1971. An adventure which is not quite over and which could perhaps have some more nice surprises in store for us...
